Caribbean Noms at Jerk Shack

Would you like to eat where "the food is the sun"? Trey Lamont, the owner and chef at Jerk Shack, says that if you need some sunshine in Seattle, that is where you can go to get your fix. Jerk Shack is inspired by the chef's favorite eats from travels to the Eastern coast.

You can't go wrong with anything on the menu at Jerk Shack. They have jerk chicken, of course, as well as pork belly, plantains, fish, beans and much more. Just thinking about it makes me feel like I'm ordering sunshine, myself!

Free Crisis Counseling Available

Many people understand that most of us could benefit from some therapy. Aside from narcissists who aren't likely to change themselves, most people would benefit from talking about their issues and learning how to help themselves as best as they can. Right now more people need that kind of help than ever, and there are some services that may be beneficial to them.

Plant Magnetism

All joking about animal magnetism aside, this news is pretty wild and cool: Venus flytraps product magnetic fields while they consume their prey. It's not a huge reaction, understandably; anyone who's had a Venus flytrap knows that the carnivorous plant doesn't need a lot of live insects to consume, nor does it need them often. You can kill one by giving it too many, in fact! So it makes sense that the magnetism produced is also a small amount.

Kindness Crafts

Recently I learned about a really cool craft project called Ready to Care. You sign up and it sends you weekly texts with ideas for helping seniors through crafts, letter writing, gift-giving and more. I love crafts and I love helping others, so when the two are combined I'm pretty much head over heels.

Family Guy Coming to Disney+

Too often does a series debut on a streaming service only for it to feature a few seasons. I remember one year when we were left hanging watching Supernatural on Netflix. This was back when there were Blockbuster videos around (I know!) and we went ALL over town, visiting or calling to see if anyone had the season available. When you're binge-watching, it seems so important at the time. Now I have to laugh, even though I know if I take a break between seasons I normally don't pick up a show again. My memory just isn't strong enough to recall what happened last.

Poetry in Isolation

When we think about poetry in general, plenty of reclusive people come to mind. Emily Dickinson alone is one of the greatest and best known examples. But what about poets forced into isolation due to illness? That's when you get writers like Elizabeth Barrett Browning. A book about the poet suggests that we can learn how to cope with social distancing by following her example.

Nuclear Reactors 869 - Pacific Northwest National Laboratory Researching Laser-induced Breakdown Spectroscopy For Hydrogen Analysis In Alloys

Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) is useful for measuring hydrogen isotopes. It requires no preparation of samples and a simple experimental setup can rapidly capture data. However, it is challenging to quantify the concentration of hydrogen with this technique.
