Strangest Places Found on Google Earth

The other day I was watching a video trying to figure out what some structures under the ocean might be in a conspiracy theory-type of video. You always have to watch them with a grain of salt and you know anything can be video edited these days... but I am deeply curious about it and other strange images captured by Google Earth and would love to see whatever you've found in your digging.

Bones Coffee Christmas in July

Bones Coffee is one of my favorite places to buy ground coffee, and right now they are having their annual Christmas in July sale. That means they will be selling their delicious winter holiday flavors right now in the middle of summer! I love that they sell sample packs so you can try before you buy the larger bags, and as someone who loves to drink different flavors every day, I tend to buy mostly samples to just keep it fresh every day.

The holiday flavors include:

Parody Poems

My teenager and I love song and poem parodies so much. We will sing random songs to one another as parodies all of the time, resulting in general merriment and laughter. When you can get one in perfect rhythm to match a song or poem that already exists... That is something to really celebrate!

Patriotic Family Guy Merch

In many ways, the Griffins symbolize the American family--in some ways for real and in some ways in terms of how the rest of the world views us. It's meant to be satire, of course, so we can laugh at ourselves, but the idea of pairing the show up with some patriotic merch is just so funny because of this very reason.

Supporting BIPOC Women

When Black History Month, Juneteenth and other historical days come and go, people often find themselves pushing to buy Black, donate to the NAACP, and take action when many don't throughout the year. This is really something we need to be doing all of the time, whether it means supporting everyone from local Black business owners to doctors and hair stylists to looking up Black businesses to buy the daily products you use from.

Are You Building New Parties?

Most of us can agree that the American political system is broken. We still have the Filibuster, the Electoral College and single old white guys holding the rest of us hostage when they refuse to even hold a vote. This shouldn't be legal, but here we are, and we're still up to our eyeballs in medical and college debt with no end in sight.

Queer Support vs. Rainbow Washing

When it comes to supporting businesses during Pride month, a lot of people have mixed feelings. On one hand, representation does matter; and as far as I'm concerned, normalizing is what we need to spread more acceptance and joy. On the other hand, these days corporations have the most power, so seeing them donate to anti-queer candidates and remain silent when they try to pass harmful bills and then cover themselves in glitter come June is just baloney. We can't stand for it.

Nuclear Reactors 910 - Problems With Buildup Of Noble Gases At The Taishan Nuclear Power Plant in China

The Taishan nuclear power plant in China’s Guangdong province is owned and operated by a joint venture between EDF, the French owned nuclear company and China General Power Group (CGN), the Chinese owned nuclear power company. The U.S. news network reported that Framatome, the EDF subsidiary which designed the Taishan reactors, warned that there was an immediate radiological threat at the Taishan plant.
