Nuclear Reactors 1237 - Kairos Power Is Moving Ahead With A Demonstration Hermes Molten Salt Reactor

     The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has issued its Final Safety Evaluation Report (FSER) for Kairos Power's application to construct their Hermes molten salt test reactor at a site in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Kairos says that it expects to receive a construction permit for the first of a kind reactor later this year.

     Polish copper and silver producer KGHM Polska Miedź SA has signed a letter of intent with the Legnica Special Economic Zone (LSEZ). The Letter promises cooperation in research and development projects and investment initiatives related to small modular reactors (SMRs).

     The Ultra Safe Nuclear Corporation (USNC) has recently delivered uranium nitride coated uranium oxycarbide tristructural isotropic (TRISO) nuclear fuel to the NASA Space Nuclear Power and Propulsion program. USNC states that this demonstrates the “flexibility, precision and value of its Pilot Fuel Manufacturing Facility (PFM).
